The part you can't see is the part that matters
Georgia clay is the reason so many walls in this area lean. It holds water, it swells, and it pushes. A wall built straight onto undisturbed clay with no drainage behind it will look perfect for two seasons and start bulging in the third.
The work that prevents that is all underground: excavating below soft soil, a compacted gravel base, drainage stone behind the wall, and a perforated pipe that takes the water somewhere it can go. It's the slow, unglamorous half of the job and it's the half that decides how long the pretty half lasts. We'd rather explain that up front than quote the cheap version and let you find out later.
How a project runs
Walk and measure
We look at the slope, where the water goes now, and what you want it to do. Then a real number.
Excavate and base
Dig out, compact, gravel base. This is where the time goes and it isn't rushed.
Build
Course by course, checked for level and batter, with drainage stone and pipe going in as we go.
Finish and clean
Backfill, cap, tidy the site and haul the spoil away. Nothing left behind for you to deal with.

Common questions
How much does a retaining wall cost?
It depends on height, length, material and how much excavation and drainage the site needs — the same wall on a flat, dry site and on a wet slope are very different jobs. We quote after walking it, free.
Do I need a permit?
Often yes above a certain height, and the threshold varies by county and by whether the wall carries a surcharge like a driveway above it. Cherokee and Cobb both have rules. We'll tell you when we think one is needed rather than building first and hoping.
How long does a project take?
A short garden path can be a day. A retaining wall with real excavation and drainage is usually several days, and weather moves it — you can't compact a base in mud. We'd rather give you an honest window than a date we'll miss.
Can you fix a wall that's already leaning?
Sometimes. A wall that's bulging is usually telling you the drainage behind it failed, and patching the face without fixing that just buys a year. We'll look and tell you whether it's a repair or a rebuild, including when the answer is the expensive one.
What materials do you use?
Segmental block for most structural walls, natural stone where the look matters more than the budget, pavers and flagstone for patios and paths. We'll show you options in your price range rather than steering you to one.
Do you handle drainage problems too?
Yes, and often that's the actual job. French drains, regrading and rerouting downspouts fix more yard problems than any wall does.
